Garden Connect launches online academy
Garden Connect has launched a new online academy to help users to get the most out of their website or webshop. The launch of the academy, with almost 100 videos by now, was a long-standing dream of both the users and the Garden Connect team itself.
“When Covid-19 broke out we were faced with a huge challenge” Edwin Meijer explains on behalf of Garden Connect. “In The Netherlands, garden centres were one of the few shops exempt from the lockdown and during this time we saw that online sales were skyrocketing. The UK, Ireland, and Canada had to close their garden centres immediately so they had to switch completely to e-commerce. This meant we had our work cut out for us, as we had to launch almost 30 new webshops during spring. One of the
consequences was that the need for support highly increased.”
Manuals
The first plan of Garden Connect was to renew the manuals: “But nobody reads a manual, including myself. We talked with our users and we received the suggestion to work more with video. There was no time to rest this summer, so we started recording in September."
The videos are all available on www.gardenconnect.com/academy, both in Dutch and in English. “All videos are on Youtube, but we want to give our users the possibility to watch all the videos. Our Academy is available without login credentials and users can continue to watch the video where they left off.” Marny Winkelhorst, marketeer at Garden Connect explains.
Academy per theme
The videos are divided by theme: “We made a series of 13 videos about website management and another series about webshop management. All together they last up to 2 hours, but after that, you’re well informed about what you can do with your website or webshop. For smaller modules, we also have shorter videos. For example, the ticketing module course.”
First 1.000 views in 3 weeks
“It might sound modest, but in the first 3 weeks we reached more than 1.000 views. Pretty good, since these were the busy weeks before Christmas. Besides that, it’s important for us that users find it pleasant to watch all of the tips and tricks whenever it suits them.”
There are around 100 videos online now, half of them are in English: “Almost half of our users are non-Dutch, so that was important for us.”
