Introducing: Barry Disveld
Barry has worked at Garden Connect as an online marketer since 2015. We’re happy to introduce you to him in this blog!
From intern to senior online marketeer
Barry started as an online marketing intern at Garden Connect. “It was a very interesting time for me because this was my first office job. Before I came here I had never even heard about Zwanenburg, but when I found out it’s near where I’m from, I decided to write an application letter. My first job interview was with Frank and went very smoothly right away. I instantly felt comfortable.”
Online marketing and affiliate marketing
As an online marketeer Barry manages a client portfolio of 10 big webshops. “That means that every day I make sure they make as much revenue as possible using various techniques such as SEO, Google Ads, Google Shopping, conversion optimization, and affiliate marketing.”
That last one is a service that we’ve implemented thanks to Barry himself: “I’ve been researching affiliate marketing for some time before I brought it into a conversation with Edwin. I thought it could be a very good idea for our clients, so I got the freedom to show if and how this would work. Now the service is fully functional for several clients, and it’s very nice to see how this develops from an idea to a service!”
Organic growth
Before working at Garden Connect, Barry used to work in various industries. Culture-wise, Garden Connect was a great match straight away. This showed up in his quick development from intern to junior, medior, and now senior online marketer.
The most important thing for Barry is the contact with his clients “it’s amazing to work on the same webshop for years. There are no shortcuts in online marketing, but step by step, you can reach great results.”
Padel with the whole team
“Playing padel is one of my hobbies, which is why I’ve organized a couple of padel tournaments with our team. It’s a lot of fun to challenge each other on the padel court!” Besides that, Barry likes to go out for dinner, to parties, sailing, snowboarding and he enjoys barbecuing.
His answer to the question, what is your favourite plant? “Everyone mentioned the Monstera, right? I like the Strelitzia or an olive tree. In general, I like plants that aren’t too fragile.”
